When it comes to advanced cardiac life support, very few health care professionals have moved over to ACLS classes online as a way of either getting or renewing their certification. The reasons why they won’t to do their ACLS certification online are obvious; unfortunately, most healthcare employers won’t accept online ACLS training. The main reason for this is that there is no hands-on practice. Online ACLS certification is NOT recommended.
• The first consideration is one of affordability. San Fernando Valley ACLS classes cost money. If a student can obtain equivalent results at a less expensive price, then they certainly would want to pursue that option. In this case, although an online class may be cheaper, it is no replacement for our West Hills classroom certification.
• As mentioned above, equivalence is a consideration as well. There is a discernible difference in the curriculum between ACLS online and traditional classes, that might factor in favor of one option or the other. Since the two courses are NOT identical and designed by the same set of industry professionals. It is not basically a coin flip situation when trying to judge which one offers more in terms of educational value. Classroom ACLS training is by far the preferred method of certification.
• Sometimes it takes a while to grasp the nuances of newly developed advanced cardiac life support procedures. In a standard classroom environment, a certain amount of time is allocated to a topic and then the class needs to move on in order to cover everything listed in the syllabus. ACLS online students DO NOT have the luxury of getting any hands-on experience and going over the material again and again until they completely understand.
• For some people, tests represent a psychological barrier more than a way of assessing their skills. Students who know the material but do poorly on tests for whatever reason have the advantage of retaking the ACLS examination multiple times at no additional cost and with no penalty for not doing well enough the first time. Fail the test in a traditional class and you won’t end up retaking the entire class. Our classroom instructor will go over the material until you fully understand the Advanced Life Support training.
• Online tests allow the student to see their grade immediately. But that is not enough. The student needs to be seen and corrected by the classroom instructor. Although there is no tense period of wondering if one made the cut or not, nor is there any delay in getting the critically-necessary certification cards, your employer will most likely not accept the ACLS certification card.
The sum total of ACLS certification online is such that it is, for the most part, not nearly as effective as our classroom training. Additionally, online classes don’t offer extra AED training. We offer this AED training in ALL of our classes. You can read more in the About Us page.
